"Danger of a Single Story"

1. What does it mean to have a "Single Story" a place or community? To have a "Single Story" is to have an opinion or thought about an area, without knowing all there is to know about this area. Like saying a biased opinion about the place.Describe a single story you have heard told about your community. What is missing from that story? How could people learn more about that community?A story that I once heard about my community, which is East Austin. The story I heard I knew was a stereotype. I knew it was a stereotype because the person that told me this story said that East Austin was full of people who don't have jobs and are poor also that all the teens are gang bangers. What was missing is that the girl was being dumb because she didn't think that she lived in East Austin. Also because not everyone in East Austin is poor and not all teens are gang bangers.Describe a single story you have heard about another community. How did you learn that story? How could you find out more about that community? A single story about another place is in the North side of Austin there's nothing but white people and people who are rich and are stuck up. I learned this story because my aunt told me it and when I was little my grandfather had a lot of money and he lived in the North. I could find out more about this community by going and visiting more.How could a game let players experience many stories about a place or community? I think a game can make people or help people experience it as it is . It should't be bias or have any stereotypes in it. I think someone from that point of view should make that game.

1 Cyberbuylling 2011

This is my first blog post of the 2011-2012 school year.

What is cyberbullying ? Cyberbulling is when someone from an online website harasses you or poses as a person that will harass you.

What are the different types of cyberbullying ? The different types of cyberbullying are impersonating m gossiping and threat.

What should you do if you are being cyberbullying? If you are being cyberbullied you should tell a trusted adult or friend. If you choose a friend to tell the friend will have to report it to an adult.

How does the main character feel about using "clicksters" in the beginning of the film? In the beginning of the film Taylor ( The main character ) didn't really like Clicksters . She didnt want to use it and also she couldn't because she had no way to.

What is her family situation? Taylor's family situation I think also affects her a little. Her parents are divorced and she told her father she never wanted to see him again. Taylor has a little brother. Her realationship with her mother and brother is good.

What types of friendships does she have? She has good friendships that are good . Then Taylor and one of her friends start having issues.

When does the bullying start? To me the bullying start in the beginning because one ,of the bullies Lindsay starts to verbally bully Taylor. Then the cyberbullying starts when Taylor joins the online website Clicksters.

What is the result of cyberbullying that Taylor experiences?

The experiences that she takes in is by trying to commint suicide. Taylor tried to commit suicide because of the cyberbullying gong on--the website clicksters.

What type of cyberbullying does Taylor experience?

She experiences people calling her outside of her name and posting bad things on her profile and spreading rumors. She also experienced her "Bestfriend" impersonating a person.

What would you do if you were in Taylor's shoes? I would've of been really mad but I wouldn't had tried to kill myself. First I would've printed out everything that has been happening on the site and then I would've deleted it.

How does Taylor react to the mean comments people keep posting about her?

In reaction to everything Taylor trys to commit suicide.

Does she ever try to stop people from passing insults ? What could she have done differently?

She does not she just looks and then leaves . I think she could've erased the profile and not get on anymore. She also could've printed everything and contacted police and adults.

How do you think Taylor felt about her friends betraying her?

I think she felt sad and mad because it was her best friend who had did that to her. I would've been very mad too. Although she was mad she still accepted Samantha's apology.

What kind of change do you see Taylor experiance things from the film?

I see her changing by when she goes to the counseling classes that her mother put her in. I also see her change when she finds out that her friend was impersonating James. Also when she continues to learn other peoples problems are the same as hers she tells her mom and other people that she wants to raise awareness about cyberbullying and what people/ teens are going through.

What is it about? -Our Game is about saving all of the Coral Reefs and how we can save them. It also states which Coral Reefs are dieing.What scenes have you completed? -My Group has completed all of the scenes.What parts of your team page are completed? -All of our team page besides the information on where we got our information from.How much more work do you need to complete?-All we need to complete is putting all of the scenes onto one flash file.
What can you do from now until Friday to get everything finshed and turned in?-What we can do to get everything finished is too work on the buttons and putting the scenes together. What grade would you give yourself in Globaloria overall?- I really do not know it depends on how the game comes out at the end.What are all of the things you have learned this year?-This year I have learned a whole lot I also have learned more then what ive learned last year.What are you proud of in Globaloria?-In Globaloria I am proud of making a game and having it work.How can you improve next year?-Nest year I can improve by learning more and also by making a more complicated game.

Nintendo

Cool! The new Nintendo 3DS is out already. I have heard so many great things about it. Like one...I heard from the video that the top screen is 10x bigger then the Nintendo DS. Here is some research on it. First the game was just released yesterday March 27,2011. The gaming device went on sale in the U.S for 250$. This game lets users play 3D games without using special glasses. It also takes 3D photos ,isnt that AWESOME! This summer the 3DS will be able to play 3D movies from Netflix on its one of its screens. The 3DS has 2 camers in the back of the game. Another good thing about this game is that the game is all to yourself you can say, do and think what you want because there is nobody to tell you anything and also you dont have to bve diturbed by anyone. The game has "okay" chargeing. It has 3.5 hours of charge. So if your a game adict you might want to take a charger everywhere you go. Well theres one little catch to the game. You have to be over 7 years old. Well thats no problem to us Middle Schoolers. Here is a picture of the game->

Gaming

At the end of the year we will have a game to present. I would try to sell my game to people. That would be so cool if someone were to buy it.I would love to buy someone elses game as well. If it was good. Well what celebrity would I have on my game. I would have Alicia Keys. I would have her on my game because she is such an inspiration to me because she is really nice. I also love her because she is a really great singer. Well another person I would have is Rihanna. She is a really good singer too. The other reason I would put tese two celebritys is because I want to do a game on teen dating violence and because of what happened to Rihanna but thats not it.Its just because I really like these two people .I would advertise my game on the tv,internet,commercials and everywhere possible that someone can buy it. Although I would be careful because you never know whos out there.

Japan

I think that it is a terrible thing that Japan was hit by the tsunami. I really feel bad for the children and parents that went through this and that aslo lost loved ones. I believe that it is a good thing that the school is helping raise money to send because a lot of people dont have food,clothes or shelter. If I were to do something to help Japan I would ask the school to help raise money for Japan. I would also have a fundraiser or a basket sell to help.With the money that we raise I would buy clothing and food to send to Japan.Then with the rest of the money I would send it to Japan so that they will have money to build houses. I would also send money to them to help make the things that they need and also to rebuild the stores. I would like to help the people in Japan because without them most of us wouldnt have our computers,cell phones, or even iPods. We all know how much we love those things.

I think it is a really really bad thing that the eartquake as well as the Tsunami hit Japan.I also feel bad for the people in California and Hawii because they also got hit by the Tsunami .Even though it wasnt as ad it still matters.Here is a picture of the tsunami.-->. PSP

This handheld game is really cool to me because it is touch screen most of all and also because its another device that can keep you occupied whenever you are bored.I know I get bored all the time so I would buy it. Although there are some bad things about the video game devices.This device can lead to more children skipping school and have electronic devices in school. The reason is becuase games are so adicting that students stay home and play games. I would like to buy this game but then I would also not buy it.^ I got this image from bing.com.
